Hello everyone,

our double garage is currently in the shell construction phase. The flat roof will overhang the exterior walls by about 25cm on two sides.
Our architect mentioned that before the ceiling is concreted, I could attach LED strips to this overhang.

I have now seen LED aluminum profiles on Ebay and Amazon. About 16-17mm wide with a cover (matte/clear).
Is there anything to consider regarding the concrete? Can such aluminum profiles be easily attached to the formwork, or do such profiles need to meet any special requirements because of the concrete? Additionally, I would lay a conduit (concrete-proof) with 30 or 35mm at the ends.

Best regards

If you want to do it yourself, I would glue the LED strips into the aluminum profile and then cast them with LED potting compound. Or just buy "waterproof" ones right away... Are the profiles with a diffuse acrylic cover?

Thank you for the reply. I do not have the LED strips themselves yet; I would only buy profiles and place them on the formwork before concreting.

Later, when the concrete has been poured and the formwork removed, I would have to insert the LED strips into the profile. Regarding water, it should not be a problem for the LED strip then, because it will be under the concrete ceiling where no rain can reach.

Should it remain only in concrete? No insulation underneath or outside the heated envelope?

It is a detached double garage that does not meet any energy efficiency standards. (So no insulation). They called me crazy when I asked the architect and contractor about using insulated bricks right away. They said it was unnecessary for a garage.
