Hello everyone,

we would like to lower the entire ceiling in the living/dining area, which is about 38m2, and install LED spots. My question is: Has anyone done this before? Do the LED spots provide enough light? How does the room look as a result (pictures would be great )? Do you possibly have alternative design tips?

Best regards,

Igor

Hello everyone,
we would like to completely lower the ceiling in the living/dining area, which is about 38m2, and install LED spots. My question now is: Has anyone done this before? Do the LED spots provide enough light? How does the room feel because of it (pictures would be great )? Do you possibly have alternative design tips?
Best regards,
I have also dealt with this, but with a solid wood ceiling. Some advise against spots or recessed lamps and rather rely on indirect lighting. With a suspended ceiling, you could work well with light coves to have indirect lighting. Despite everything, I will install recessed lamps in the open plan area (living room, dining room, and kitchen). However, a pendant lamp will be installed above the dining table. With a suspended ceiling, you are more flexible if you are not yet 100% sure where the table will be. A pendant lamp could also be placed above the kitchen peninsula to create a visual separation between the kitchen and dining area. Along the entire width of the living-dining area, I have created the possibility to install LED strips (in aluminum housings, etc.) to have indirect lighting.

Wow, only 5 spots on 16 sqm. We have 10 and just under 12 sqm.

Generally, I would only use spots where you really need good lighting. Above the dining area, where it should also be cozy, that wouldn't be for me.

Here's our hallway with 11 spots:

And the dining table with pendant lights that make it cozy:

Wow, that would be 13 for us. I would need sunglasses for that.

The kitchen has 6 spots.

Spots are not all the same. I need to check the documents to see which ones are installed here. They are also quite flat. A 4 cm ceiling drop is enough.
