I believe in the 10-20€ more, if at all, it shouldn’t fail then if I prefer to make it tighter. Just asked the building material supplier, 30x50 costs 0.61€ net per running meter, 40x60 would be 0.85€/running meter net.

Having time and money to spare is never a bad thing :)

Whereas with a 40cm distance you could also get by with 19mm rough-sawn decking. The greater leverage is exerted over the area.

But if you only try it on 2 battens, that is not meaningful, because later the rough-sawn boards are each attached to several battens that absorb the forces. We have 22mm rough-sawn boards on the original spacing of about 90cm, nothing bends when you walk on it.

Good point. So put 2 crates of beer on each end.

Just a quick note about optimal installation/requirements.

The following consideration. I take the 5m slats in 30x50, with the 50 side lying flat and the 30 going vertical. I have the 5m cut into 2x2m and 1x1m lengths.

A roof beam is about 7cm thick, then there is an internal measurement to the next beam of about 90cm and then another 7cm beam. This means I can easily go from one beam to the other with a 1m piece (about 104cm) and have enough play to align on both beams so that no end hangs in the air. With the 2m pieces I can reach one more beam, so 201cm (7cm,90cm,7cm,90cm,7cm). Even there no ends would hang in the air. For the following slat I then lack the support surface on the beam if end to end, but I can continue in an offset. So the new slat next to the previous one.

Do I have a flaw in my thinking? Or does it fit like this?

Thanks!
