Honestly, 4 minutes for one processing?!

Addition: With sectioning into 2.5m, something would always hang between the beams in the air, and bringing it up to the attic would involve some juggling, while the shorter lengths work better there.

If the decision is between 2.5m and 2m, I would do it like this. If you bring up 5m or similar, I would rather prefer something like that and cut it to size accordingly

So the length would be how I would like it. I definitely can't (anymore) manage 5 meters. I think the rough-sawn timber is also something in the range of 4-5, which was easy to lift during the shell construction. If I understood correctly, you would have done everything in one piece and then only sawed the 5m to fit so that nothing hangs in the air?

Butt jointing means screwing twice, and when you screw close to the edge you always run the risk of breaking the batten. Unless you pre-drill, but that creates even more work. And when you screw the boards later, there is a higher risk that you hit the screws from the battens or screw into the joint of the butt jointing. Therefore, ideally, you should have as few joints as possible.

Yes, all right. But I wouldn’t even be able to transport the 5m home myself. Having it delivered would cost more than the material. Since the boards are laid and screwed immediately, you can already see a bit and control accordingly. Or do you lay everything out first and screw it afterwards, where of course everything would then be covered?

Honestly. You do this once in your life and it should turn out well. So drill a pilot hole, even if it takes 2 minutes. I don’t understand this constant reference to time anyway...

You’re not a carpenter who has to earn a living with this and for whom efficiency matters. They also have the means to transport 5m slats/rough boards, the appropriate tools, etc.
