Laying tiles without rails

That's exactly what I wanted to avoid; I personally don't find it very nice. It's certainly a clean finish that won't break, but it's probably a matter of taste.

Edges are made with corner profiles (rails), upper edges can do without something like that.

Do the edges have to be done like that? Take a look at the photo from , that also looks good and was done without corner profiles and still holds today.

Regarding baseboards for wood-look tiles, I would completely avoid tiles and instead use white wooden baseboards.

In the bathroom, this tile edge without a rail reminds me of old toilets in rundown pubs or similar places. In my opinion, there should always be a proper (stainless steel) edge attached. For stairs, this also applies to me, as it is significantly more resistant.
Nowadays, the standard is rails made of stainless steel/aluminum, cheaper ones made of plastic.

That sounds pretty interesting for the living area. We want to do exactly these wood-look tiles you mentioned there. We'll probably use ready-made skirting boards, either in the look of the tiles or white.

In the living area, I would definitely skip tile skirting and use regular wooden skirting boards. Skirting boards in floor decor are hardly used anymore, and especially with wood-look tiles, it completely ruins the illusion of a wooden floor.

We chose the finish with a strip there because the potential load is high. In other places, rather without such a strip. The important thing is simply that the tile edge looks good accordingly.

If you like it that way and have a good tiler, go ahead. I like edge profiles. They look classy.

But here the focus was on the fact that you can do without it at the edge.
