Unfortunately! But even back then it was rare, and it still exists nowadays – although architecturally not just practical and cheap, but also sometimes terraced houses that are nice.

Sawtooth terraced houses might be considered more original/cuter, but they have the disadvantage of internal roof drainage, which is why the (fewer) BTs who tried it back then soon abandoned it, and today there are hardly any gable-standing examples on the market as inspiration for the OP.

I would not call this an intermediate house or starter property. Back then, the three of us lived in 50sqm and that worked too. Compared to that, 140sqm is absolute luxury and really more than enough in the long term. Every family with an apartment manages with less.
