I have (unfortunately!) discovered the Signet website. They have various "bench cushions" that are nice and nicely expensive. But in quite a few lengths and colors. Since kindly pointed out that the model I originally had my eye on only has a rather narrow seat surface, I looked around again. Now it's probably going to be expensive.

That's unfortunately very often the problem ;) Great stuff and wanting to have it... ... not only with furniture. Actually, one should only buy something from Ikea immediately, then never visit the internet or other furniture stores again. Olli

Sorry ... but you described so nicely what you want the sofa for. Signet ... something like the Blue city or the Smilla?

Yes, I find the Smilla quite nice. Straight but not too cool and modern. Apparently, the Smilla also comes with "full" armrests that extend all the way to the front edge of the seat. I also like the Blue City if it's not made of leather. Unfortunately, the photos make the sofa look "cool." So if I imagine the color and feet differently, I think it will look nice too.

Now I'm calmly considering whether my room can handle an extended sofa. The table is 160cm, so the sofa should probably be at least 225 or so. So that it doesn't look like "oops, the sofa turned out a little too long" but rather that you can see it has a function. Then two armrests aren’t a problem either. A friend insists that it doesn’t work to combine eating and relaxing on the same sofa. Because it would always feel like "eating" since the table is in front of it. Mhh, I don’t know. I hope it depends on the comfort factor of the sofa.

Today I am getting the kitchen delivered, which will be assembled in the next few days. Then I will first see for real how much space is left in the room. Hopefully the table will come in 2 weeks.

I’m excited, it’s all so exciting. :)

So, the sofa seats are always highly sought after by my guests, even if we’re just having a quick chat or something. I myself also prefer sitting there and only give it up when I have guests. It’s also more practical then, because you’re quicker to the kitchen area and can get refills ;). And reading time or something, then the table also has the advantage that tea or coffee can be right there, you can have the laptop ready to go, etc.

I want to come back to the kitchen sofa. Because a problem has arisen that I hadn't considered before: the table is 160x90 and the legs are really at the corners. They are not set in at all, not even a little bit. How long can the sofa be so that you can still get past the table leg? Or is a significantly longer sofa an option so that you can slide through to the table? How or what kind of kitchen sofa can I place at a table with legs at the corners?
