Hello everyone,

first of all, great forum here!

I am currently planning a U-shaped kitchen. Unfortunately, I (apparently) have the problem that the drawer slides interfere with each other on one side. At least that's the impression I get, even though the 3D planner doesn't complain.

Please really take a look at the attached pictures. The problem is at the corner base cabinet under the sink. Due to the limited space, I cannot fit a cover board or similar there. Now I suspect that the drawers of the sink cabinet do not clear the handles of the adjacent cabinet. If my impression is wrong, so much the better!

Problem area in 3D view:

BUT, if I were to have problems there, I have considered shortening the corner cabinet (or the cover board there) a little on the left side so that the dishwasher cabinet and sink cabinet can move a little to the left. Is that possible, and would that help with my problem?

Possible solution:

Thanks in advance!

Yep, unfortunately it looks like that. Have you simulated opening the individual cabinet in the planner to see if it overlaps? You can also simply calculate it: cabinet depth (possibly with rail) + front + handle depth. Even if you take two centimeters off the other side, it will be tight. The cabinets would have to be perfectly square so that they don’t end up scraping each other. Which one is the sink cabinet? No. 6? What is No. 4 in the corner?

Yes, you forgot to plan filler panels; these are 5cm wide in dead corners at Ikea. You can find these in the planner under countertops/corner countertops. So instead of this cabinet No. 4 in the corner

@ Nörgli:
No. 3 is the sink cabinet.
No. 4 is simply supposed to stabilize the corner and, if necessary, be equipped with a concealed compartment.
No. 6 is just a normal base cabinet.

So, No. 6 has a depth of 643mm. According to the planner, I only have 641mm from No. 3 to the right wall (without tolerances).

: Unfortunately, I can no longer fit the cover panels in that spot.

That means I could theoretically remove 2.5cm from No. 1 (marked green) and then have space to open on both sides?
Is there otherwise anything against this approach?

Other considerations:
1. No. 6 as a 37cm. But that doesn’t look good at all, since a 60cm with a cooktop will be next to it (thus causing a shift forward again).

2. No. 2 instead of the 60cm dishwasher a 45cm. I don’t like that either, because then there would be a huge cover board on the sink cabinet again.

Here is the overall view:

Here is the plan with a corner sink which somehow doesn’t appeal to me. Also, I’m missing a cabinet.

Are you assembling the kitchen yourself?

You could use a 60 cm or 80 cm cabinet for the sink and equip it with the 45 cm dishwasher front as a door, then panel the rest. It's a bit of tinkering though.

Also, I would generally consider replacing the LeMans and the 20 cm pull-out cabinet on the left side of the plan with an 80 cm cabinet with 3 or 4 drawers.

Yes, I assemble it myself. Tools (incl. saws) and craftsmanship skills are available ;) I will take a look at the suggestions...
