hello everyone
I have tinkered for a very long time on my dream kitchen, it is going to be a black glass island kitchen.
the delivery date is in just under 3 weeks.

and now we have realized during the renovation of the house that we probably calculated too tight :-(((

I wanted an island length of 3.2m with a depth of 120cm. opposite the right edge of the island there is a wall support about 60cm long. but now we only have 90cm distance between the island front and the support, and also only 90cm between the island and the kitchen unit.
isn’t this brutally too little??? I am really despairing. the kitchen was perfect!
the space from the island to the dining living area is open except for the support wall. but I am still afraid that everything will look so cramped because of it. what do you think?
should I, despite the additional costs (certainly 2000.- more!!!), have the island sides redesigned and ordered? the new island depth would then only be 95cm instead of 120cm. but there would be a distance of 102cm on each side. what do you think? what is more important here? island (including interior: great drawers, more storage space on the island (I will have a large induction cooktop, large teppan yaki and wok) or the walkways?
unfortunately, I can hardly imagine it all.

is the high extra cost worth it for actually worse interior and 25cm less?

really hoping strongly for your help!!
best regards
lalelu

Hello lalelu,

between the individual kitchen components - when they face each other - and to walls etc., a distance of 110 cm is needed for the whole thing to function properly as a kitchen. Try, as I always do with clients, to create a distance of 90 cm to a wall or a cabinet with chairs and a table. Then walk through the "aisle" as a test, bend down, pick something up from the floor, etc.; I assume that you will find 90 cm too narrow. If you still feel: "Well, it’s okay like that!" - all the better.

In front of an oven, the dishwasher, or the fridge, 90 cm will certainly be too narrow, since after subtracting the flap or door (60 cm), only 30 cm space would be left for operating the appliances.
