KfW funding, how to determine if you will receive one?

Hello,

how can one find out if they can get a KfW loan for a house? The house to be renovated was built in 1972, the windows (are as old as the house) are to be replaced, the oil heating system is to be removed and something installed that does not require oil. I do not want to forcibly turn it into a KfW 55 / 70 or similar house with additional facade insulation or similar, but just carry out the necessary renovation measures. If then any KfW standard results from it, that’s OK. But how can I find that out?
Thank you.

If it is not about a Kfw-{55,70,85,...}-efficiency house (which only an energy consultant can calculate for you), then the so-called "individual measure" is an option for you. Google "KfW Energieeffizient Sanieren Einzelmaßnahme". This is program 151/152 (as a loan) and provides up to €50,000 in low-interest loans. Under "Downloads" -> "Merkblätter" there are two lists with the eligible measures as well as the technical minimum requirements. From here speculation: If you do not involve an energy consultant, I would ask the companies for the respective trade and clearly agree with them that, for example, the replacement of windows is to be subsidized through a KfW loan. But maybe someone here can say more, currently I only have the case for the KFW70 efficiency house with an energy consultant.

What does an energy consultant charge?

Depends on what for... I paid €220 for an initial variant analysis based on the existing plans and the "Sowieso-Maßnahmen" (everything that definitely has to be done). There, (only roughly!) various variants (individual measures, KfW-XX) were compared with funding amounts and estimated costs.

Maybe just call an energy consultant, explain your plans and ask what an initial assessment costs and what it includes.

But I still vaguely remember that without exterior wall insulation, no KfW efficiency houses are an option. Except in the monument protection area.

We asked ourselves exactly the same question during our renovation back then. And then the search for funding opportunities began – as a layperson, you really have no chance, it's so tedious and opaque... You definitely need an energy consultant for that. It sounds like high costs at first, but only with them can you really receive all the funding from, for example, KfW. We didn’t have to take care of anything ourselves either; they really took care of everything for us. We did it through Eveecon back then – they have a huge network and connect you with the right consultant.

Hello Meini76

It is always worth asking an expert for help.

However, you can first gather information yourself, for example from a tax advisor regarding the tax deduction of the construction project. But everything else should be asked to someone who has dealt with the topic for a longer time. I am happy to offer myself for that.

If you still have questions, I look forward to answering them for you.

Best regards Ricco Neugebauer
