But many general contractors don’t do everything or not every standard house type can be extended.
Usually, it works with half a meter, but not in every direction. It depends on the structural engineering. Many GCs can’t keep the low price because then everything has to be redone, so they set limits.
Building a house with a standard type house has its limits – in every respect.

I will put the architect's building into the ring. Every freedom. It doesn't have to be more expensive if you are disciplined.

This is how our in-house company also explained it to us That, for example, windows can also be freely positioned and the stud frame is simply adjusted accordingly, which doesn’t mean, however, that there isn’t a system behind it

The "system" comes from the materials that determine the "rhythm" of the grid when you want to process them with minimal waste. In timber frame construction, the grids 625, 815, and 833 mm come from the "single-man" drywall panel or a third of the length of wooden boards with imperial or metric standard dimensions (a third here because around 80 cm beam spacing is a common dimension). In masonry, two jumbo-sized bricks make one meter.

From our experience, I can say that all GUs would do everything. Often in certain "increments." For example, increasing ceiling height in 12.5 cm (half brick) steps.

We have never encountered anyone who shouted "stop" because we were moving too far away from the type house. Of course, it all gets more expensive due to structural recalculations, etc. In the end, have an offer made (a separate item for each change) and weigh price against performance.

with us, the 12.5cm grid was also specified in the walls, Poroton solid, and the stones were factory-made on pallets for the house, a system indeed. The result of that was no full wheelbarrow of waste
