Is two meters wide enough for a lift-and-slide door?

Hello,

we are shortly before the measurement of the windows.
following topic:
From the kitchen to the terrace (southwest side) we have planned today 2.01 m as a double terrace door with a mullion.
now, in the course of the kitchen planning, we philosophized again about the topic. The doors will probably always be in the way later on.
now the idea is possibly to upgrade to a lift-and-slide door.
The window manufacturer advises against it because he says that with a total width of 2 m the passage would be too narrow. That would probably then be about 80-85.
Do you have any experience here? Do you have examples yourselves? What would you do?

He is right. At least 3m. Either make it wider (as possible) or ask him if he can make outward opening casement windows (requires special fittings and seals).

Thank you for the feedback. What I can't quite understand is where the argument comes from. In the end, the passage is as wide as any normal room door?

I have a wide sliding door to the terrace and I wish for a normal outward-opening hinged door every day. That is so much more practical. The sliding door is quite heavy for me and the movement is against the direction of travel, which bothers me. Using one hand with my arms full of stuff is also not so practical. I am definitely in favor of the hinged door.

With normal room doors, however, you don't regularly have large trays with dishes and grilled food. Normal room doors also do not serve to extend the living room (for that, you usually have double-leaf doors). And the 86 cm is just tiny compared to the 1.8-2m of the double-leaf door with mullion.

2.01m rough opening dimension with a double door with a mullion results in a clear passage width of approximately 85cm. I just measured it here. You don't open the mullion leaf in everyday use. With a lift-and-slide door with a 2.01m rough opening dimension, the passage width is significantly smaller and not recommended. From 2.5m rough opening dimension, however, it works.
