Is tree height on private properties regulated by ordinances?

I did say that it is a new development area. By the way, that is the neighbor's house, not ours. Our house will be roughly where the photo was taken from.

Perhaps it is now somewhat clearer why we assumed that the trees would be cut down before the house construction would begin.

I like trees, don't get me wrong. But if I have to be afraid that it will fall on our roof, the enthusiasm is not quite as great anymore
