Hello everyone,

we decided just before groundbreaking to cancel our house construction project. Long story, not relevant here

The structural engineer (also energy consultant for our KfW55 project) has now sent us an invoice for €900 gross. Scope: "Preparation of the KfW application and cross-checking of the documents"
Flat-rate fee gross €1800, of which 50% services rendered = €900.

To me, 50% or €900 for filling out an application (copying numbers from the heat protection certificate) seems a bit high. And is filling out the application (max. 1 hour?) really already 50% of the total service?

Is the amount reasonable? If not, what options do I have to object?

Thanks and regards, Thilo

What is already appropriate in construction?
Ask if he also offers the complete program and charges you for it. There are, among other things, points like:

[*]Communication and coordination (architect, structural engineer)
    [*]Construction supervision and site inspections
[*]and very importantly, confirmation after implementation. You need this, sign it and then send it to your bank. The bank forwards this to the KfW

We pay 2,355 euros net for the entire program.

BTW, this online confirmation is certainly somewhat more extensive than just filling out an application.

So if you pay 1,800 euros gross for everything completely, that sounds like a fair offer.

And very importantly, 50% are subsidized, so submit an application.

, you probably overlooked that he has stopped the construction
Therefore, he no longer needs the other items and will not receive any subsidies.

, did the energy consultant also create the thermal protection certificate?

Arg... I had overlooked that. I thought it had been canceled and then rescheduled. He should definitely give you the online confirmation for the KfW loan agreement.

Money should only be given for the corresponding service. Whether 900 euros are reasonable for that is hard to judge. I wouldn’t argue about it. However, only if you receive the complete application. If not, sit down together and consider how to resolve the matter amicably.

The thermal insulation certificate is included in the package along with the static calculation and the preparation of the building notification for €2100. I believe the costs are closer to €2100 than the €900 for the KfW application. We have received all the documents.

Well then, I would pay the bill and write everything off as a learning experience.
