So always diligently watch the weather report. If the following day will be warm (or sunny), then heat less at night, otherwise keep it constant. That would actually be a use case for a [Versmartisierung] of the heating system. Where it is otherwise always said that a well-planned and adjusted heating system doesn't need any further regulation.

So before investing a lot of effort into optimizing the night setback, I would first replace the leaking windows. That should have a greater effect ;)

Oh, does the OP have leaky windows? I must have overlooked that.

You can then invest the savings in getting rid of the mold that forms due to too little air exchange and low room temperature ;)

In #10 he writes that there is a draft. I interpreted that as windows and not as "there is a draft from the living room to the hallway". In contrast, a nighttime setback doesn't help much anyway.

I also think that it varies from house to house. The blanket statement from our politicians is, in my opinion, completely wrong. The night setback with underfloor heating is, for example, complete nonsense.

Even in old houses, I am not sure if it really makes sense. Previously, we lived in a house with 50-80cm natural stone walls. The oil heating system also had a night setback set. But at night the rooms cooled down so much that it took a long time in the morning for the rooms to warm up again. That was not comfortable. In my view, it would have made sense there as well to run the heating with a lower supply temperature.
