Is it allowed and sensible to integrate the heating room into the bathroom?

Hello.

We are planning to build a single-family house without a basement. The gas heating will be located on the ground floor. Now the question for us is whether we absolutely need a separate heating room. I have read in the forum that this is no longer necessarily required nowadays. Would it also be possible to integrate the heating room into the bathroom on the ground floor, and is that at all sensible?

Looking forward to your opinion.

Best regards
Peter

Of course that's possible, in millions of rental apartments the gas boiler is located in the bathroom. The question is only, where to put the washing machine, dryer, electricity meter, etc...? For that, the utility room is usually built. Alternatively, it would also be possible to place the gas heating in the attic, especially if it is not converted...

Thank you for your information. We have planned a washing machine and dryer for the bathroom on the upper floor. We do not want to install a gas heating system in the attic. We had overlooked the electricity meter. Good point.

I can imagine that we place the electricity meter, gas condensing boiler, and water heater in the guest bathroom on the ground floor, with the items positioned behind a wall for privacy. What do you think about that?

I think nothing of it. A house needs technology, more than you can currently imagine.

Have you ever seen the technical room of a single-family house?

A craftsman also has to enter this room sometimes, and the whole technology thing is not exactly pretty. Pipes run here and there, top and bottom, possibly a controlled residential ventilation system, the water tank is at least 300 liters, possibly even bigger, connection points with meters, probably the Fritzbox, etc. Noises ... So why would you build a guest WC room of about 10 sqm? To save a door?
Basically a technical room with a toilet [emoji23]

Why so complicated?

Regards, Yvonne

Hehe, yes. We are currently doing a bit of planning ourselves. You can tell. Since we don't have a basement, we are really trying to eliminate a door by the hallway, otherwise it becomes significantly larger. But we are still in the idea-finding phase. After your post, I don't like my idea that much anymore either....

I have to smile a little: pre-installing an elevator and wanting to "integrate" a connection room, doesn't that somehow go in opposite directions? - that must still be a very confused planning phase.
