Text block:

The DIN 18014:2007-09 is still far too new to be "already" known to all parties involved in construction.

Execution according to the current DIN 18014:2014-03 is a prerequisite for meter registration. German electricians do not nearly all have a contractually binding VDE selection subscription, but many replace this by the supernatural ability to certify the execution of the grounding system as standard-compliant even after concreting. Where a connection flag sticks out of the ground, everything has to be okay, right?

Google who is allowed to install foundation grounding; forums are full of reports about building grounding conductors thrown in by masons, and you will always find a favor-eli who fills out the meter registration falsely out of concern for connection contracts.

CORRECTION: Instead of VDE 0855-305 it must be VDE 0185-305.

I didn't want to start a new topic now.

So I am missing a recommendation based on common sense here.
We are currently facing the same question.
My feeling tells me it worked for decades without it. So why should we spend money on it.

I would be very grateful for your experiences during the implementation of your own construction project,

Regards

Christian

Even before the church, which should be left in the village, supposedly common sense has been claimed for the worst nonsense so often that the term is typical for excuses to me. DIN VDE 0100-443 and DIN VDE 0100-534 are feeling-independent standards that will soon be mandatory for new constructions because surge protection is an economical preventive measure. Conspiracy theorists, however, see evil lobbyists’ machinations behind it. As an otherwise standards-compliant electrical specialist, one could also take a look into the VDE selection aid for such questions.

On 14.12.2018 the transition period ends. From then on, surge protection is mandatory. PERIOD.

Surge protection in the measurement cabinet by Hager
according to DIN VDE 0100-443
Modern electrical installation imposes
increasing demands for comfort and
communication. With the rising number
of devices, the risk of
surge damage increases on all devices that
are operated on the power, telephone, or data network.
Surge protection devices limit the
voltage between HV and LV, or
sockets up to 10m to a safe
1500V. For cables longer than 10m,
an additional surge protection for the
electrical device to be protected is necessary.
