Says who? Did I say that? I think you misunderstand me. Yes, they need living space. But do they need a house? Is it sensible to acquire a house just because you have too much money lying around? How do you get envy from that? Why should I be jealous? I stick to the statement: Why should a single person have a house? Just because they have money lying around? If they plan a family, or need rooms for hobbies, or whatever - okay. But just because you have money lying around, acquiring a house is not sensible. For me, the advice: "Sure, you have €450k lying around - buy yourself a house" is not sensible. The advice should be: "If you need a house for xxx reasons, then buy the house." Owning a house just to get rid of money is not sensible to me. But to each their own,...

Now I'll continue spinning: Does a family need a house? No... because in case of doubt, a 3, 4 or 5-room apartment for rent is also enough. Who really needs (and by that I mean requires) a house??? Of course, it can make sense for the OP to get a house if the "money is just lying around." Why not? He can do whatever he wants with it. Whether he buys a house, invests in stocks, goes on a world trip, or hides the money under his pillow... it's his business, not yours or ours. Even if he doesn't want to start a family or doesn't need the rooms for hobbies... even if he would build a house just to show: "This is mine!" - Who cares???

Whether single or family person: A house is a good investment. At least better than leaving "the cash" in the account.

I will not address the rest anymore!

You just have to look at who packs the expensive pre-made salad in the supermarket and then complains that the money is never enough! I do have a fat salary and long working hours, but I usually wash my iceberg lettuce myself and get twice as much out of it because that's how I was raised!

I think we should really leave it at that now, before the topic escalates any further. After all, this has long since had nothing to do with the original question.

: You don't need to defend yourself. You can do whatever you want with your money. However, I would still ask you (even though I'm not a mod) to refrain from using expressions like "Asso-Familie," because only a very small portion of low-income families actually behave the way you describe.

And with that, I'm out of here!
