Is an extra meter needed for the heat pump if a photovoltaic system is present?

Hello. I am considering whether we should have a separate meter for our heat pump and for our photovoltaic system, as well as the consumption in the house.

Actually, I had planned to support the heat pump with our system and also use a lot of solar power in the house. So only one meter. However, my electrician is now making me a bit uncertain and wants a separate meter.

So we have a meter.

Regardless of the photovoltaic system, the second meter with a heat electricity tariff would have been only slightly cheaper. Therefore, we decided against it right away.

In view of the photovoltaic system, I would use only one meter. Especially east/west is optimal for self-consumption.

Only one meter for photovoltaics.
Correct decision.
Unless the photovoltaic system has more than 9.9 kWp power, then a 100% meter from the supplier is generally required only for the photovoltaics.

Thank you for the feedback. Our system has exactly 9.92 to stay under ten. What do you think of the solution with two meters, where you take the heat pump electricity tariff and at the same time operate the heat pump with photovoltaics? That should partly already be possible.

Yes, why not. If it’s worth it with you.

I admit, I sometimes no longer understand the combination options, but I think I know that not every electricity provider agrees to the issue with two meters. It is probably the local suppliers that are decisive, not the pure providers. At least that is how I understood our photovoltaic installer.
