Is a towel radiator mandatory?

Hi,

I have already read a few threads, but I still have a question.
We are getting a guest bathroom in our new home and will expand it by adding a shower. The guest bathroom will then have about 3 sqm of space and will have underfloor heating (like all other rooms). According to the construction company, because of the shower we now have to include a towel radiator. I suspect this relates to the heat demand calculation. But is that the case? Can they require this, or can I insist that the underfloor heating in the small bathroom simply be laid more densely? It is also not yet clear whether it will be electric or connected to the underfloor heating. The latter also doesn’t make much sense.

Best regards
Sebastian

You don't even need to heat it - it will just be a bit cold then

Closing it tighter wouldn't be wrong, but it only helps so much - certainly not enough to reach the desired temperature of 24°C.

If electric - since this room is certainly used very rarely for showering (?) and you would then want a bit more warmth quickly, that is certainly the better choice.

Our shower bathroom is just under 6 sqm, underfloor heating is laid tightly over 5 sqm, and the bathroom currently reaches 20 degrees without the towel radiator (but they are present and electric). The flow rate per room can be varied in two ways with us, and we are still practicing (this is the first winter in the house). In the main bathroom, it is also only 21 degrees for us, but that is because it would otherwise be too warm. For only 3 sqm, I would have a towel radiator installed. Just in case.

I would do without the towel radiator. We had it for years in the old house - almost never used. In our new bathrooms, we have decided against it, it costs us space and money and then it is not needed anyway, since about 22 degrees room temperature is completely sufficient. *Persönliche Meinung bzw. persönliches Empfinden*

We also had to install the towel radiators to reach 24°. In hindsight, I probably should have chosen the electric variant. Due to the low flow temperatures, towel radiators don't really make sense for heating the room. Preheating towels also doesn't work. To achieve the desired 24° in the bathroom and guest bathroom, I would have to raise the entire heating curve by at least 2° and reduce all other rooms accordingly. That doesn't really make sense to me. I prefer to live with 20-21°. The advantage of the current type of towel radiator (especially in the guest bathroom, which is often near the entrance area) is that you can nicely place kids' shoes, gloves, etc. between them to dry. A flow temperature of 26-30° is sufficient for that.
