Is a solar system still worthwhile? How many years does it take to start benefiting from it?

Hello,

even though renewable energy is mainly about the environment, as a builder you can also think about the costs. Such a solar system only pays off after many years. I am already over 50. Are the acquisition costs actually much higher? The political situation should not be ignored either when it comes to the promotion of solar systems. Who knows how the situation will change. What do you advise? Should we have a solar system installed?

Regards Hans

It always depends on the size of the solar system; if you install a small one for personal use for hot water and a little electricity, then the costs are manageable. For people who want to make money with it, it has become more difficult. You can also source solar modules directly from China, but you still have to pay customs duties and taxes on them, yet it is still a big cost advantage.

Hello Paule,

when making such a purchase, you really think twice before committing to high costs. Due to my age, I also have no one who would want the house later. So it would come down to a sale. But the solar systems would then be outdated. I think I need to think it through properly again. Of course, electricity is expensive at the moment and will become even more expensive due to the surcharges. But the costs are manageable.

Regards
Hans

Hi Hans123, as I said, it's all a matter of personal attitude. You can certainly afford just something small, which you then use for hot water heating, and for example for the garden lights. There are even small ready-made systems here, without you having to hire a company.

I also think it's good to have such a solar lamp in the garden, or abroad I have also seen such solar panels as street lighting, where a battery is included that then provides energy to the street lamp in the evening. For private individuals, it is clear that you first have to calculate whether it is worthwhile.

For a small solar system, the costs are manageable, but for entrepreneurs it hardly pays off anymore. The acquisition costs are simply too high.
