Hello dear community,
we are in the midst of building our house (rough installations of electrical and plumbing) and are currently dealing with the later appearance of our walls and ceilings. For us, it is clear that it should be white - bright walls and ceilings. We definitely do not want any "patterned wallpaper" (exception: children's room). Visually, we both prefer a direct paint on the plaster and ceiling.
Our interior walls will receive a gypsum plaster, with the exception of the bathroom, where cement plaster is used. For the ceiling, we have a filigree ceiling on both the ground floor and the upper floor. Our considerations at the moment are as follows:
To "paper" the interior walls (also in the bathroom, where no wall tiles are used) with a white fleece and then paint over white / light. The fleece is to be used to prevent cracks in the plaster and possibly enable later wallpapering. Is this approach logical or would you paint the gypsum plaster directly, with the risk of cracks appearing?! Do I have to apply a primer before attaching the fleece?
For the ceiling, we would like to fill between the filigree elements and then sand, prime, and paint the entire ceiling. However, this does not seem to be the optimal solution, as every small unevenness will supposedly become visible. For aesthetic reasons, we would prefer to avoid solutions like spray plaster or woodchip wallpaper. Would the use of fleece and a later coat of paint also be advisable here?! How have you dealt with your filigree ceiling?
Regarding fleece and paint, I would like to know whether these works or parts of them can already be done during the drying phase of the screed. Or should we wait until the screed is ready for laying the floor?!
I would be very happy to hear about your experiences!
Many thanks and best regards
