Hello everyone,
at the moment we don’t know a good solution and hope to get some tips here.
In our old building from around 1975, we had the windows replaced with new ones with external roller shutters. The old shutters were removed and the new boxes installed. From the outside you can’t see anything. Inside, the new boxes protrude a few cm into the room.
Now to our problem: the lintel above the windows is not insulated and made of concrete (?). If we just plaster here, we are afraid it will start to mold. So we thought about gluing Styrodur onto the lintel.
But that’s not really ideal either because we don’t know how it has to be done to look good visually. The gap between the lintel and the new box has already been filled with Styrodur and foam, and is now flush with the lintel and deeper than the roller shutter box.
Second problem: the lintel is about 20 cm longer on one side (where the belt winder used to be) than the window.
Do you have tips, pictures, instructions, anything on how to best do this? I have googled a lot but only found insulation of the reveal.
Thanks
