Hello

I wanted to cover my walls with drywall panels to get a proper surface.
Now my question is, do the panels or a batten frame stick to the existing wall, and then the panels are screwed onto them?
What do I have to consider?
If you use a batten frame, do you also have to put a foil on the battens as a vapor barrier?

Best regards

Maik

Where the vapor barrier goes is determined by the calculation of the dew point in the wall. For that, there is too little known about the structure. If the wall is already crooked, then the coating with the battens won't really help you, right? At least you would probably have to do a lot of leveling. Here, I would rather recommend gluing.

Hello Maik!! If it is a normal masonry and you do not want to insulate or soundproof it, I would suggest bonding it with [Ansetzbinder]. The advantages are or would be… 1. Less labor 2. More cost-effective .. Best regards.

Hello

Thanks already for the answers, we have decided that we want to batten the wall.

My question now is how is it best to batten?

Vertically or horizontally?

If you batten horizontally, at what spacing?

Hello,
I would say a vertical battens. The middle batten should then be at 62.5.
Start in such a way that you don’t begin or end with a full board, so you cut off the machine edge. That way you only need to apply acrylic in the corners and not fill it.......
Best regards Dirk
