Hello,

I bought a kitchen at Ikea and am now in the process of assembling it. I am facing the following problem:

According to the instructions, the mounting rail for the base cabinets must be at least 82cm high. Due to the low tile backsplash in my kitchen, I can only reach 77cm if I want to attach the mounting rail below the tile backsplash. So I am missing 5cm between the cabinet and the floor. This means that the legs and the toe kick at the bottom no longer fit. Much more problematic: the dishwasher then also does not fit. So I cannot attach the mounting rail below the tile backsplash.

Attaching the mounting rail in front of the tile backsplash also does not work because the intended holes do not align with the tile joints. I am very reluctant to drill into the tiles.

Therefore, I have considered not hanging the base cabinets at the back, but instead attaching additional legs there. However, it is not clear to me whether and how I should then still fasten them to the wall.

Does anyone here maybe have an idea how I could best solve this problem?

Thank you very much!

How long is the area that you want to "build on"? In our old kitchen, I did not screw about 3m length to the wall and never had a problem. Well adjusted and level, everything stood perfectly. However, with longer areas, I could imagine that problems might occur.

I would simply use different fastening elements. Drill a small hole (20-30mm) in the back panels and screw the cabinets to the wall with brackets. There are also special ones for furniture that are adjustable/remain adjustable.

If you do not have a row of extracts that you want to have all opened at the same time, the cabinets will not tip over even without being fixed to the wall.
