Hello!
I am faced with the task of renovating a small house and have no knowledge whatsoever regarding construction/renovation matters.
The situation is that throughout the entire basement (which is not a livable basement), there has been a significant water problem for years and decades.
Before I consider any renovation measures, the first step would have to be to ensure that all the walls of the house are in proper condition. – There's no point in renovating the roof if the walls are in bad shape.
I don’t know what needs to be checked regarding the walls and how to do it. But especially given that there has been a water problem in the basement for decades, this could also have had a negative effect on the entire masonry (not only in the basement).
Furthermore, long cracks are clearly visible in some places in the masonry of the ground floor and the first floor. – Two construction companies once commented that these were completely harmless.
In short. How (with whom/which methods) do I have the masonry of the entire house inspected to ensure it is in proper condition? – As a basic prerequisite for all other renovation measures.
Thank you very much for the help!
