Inform neighbors about construction plans before building?

Hello everyone,

slowly but surely, something is finally happening here with us.

The construction sign has been on our property since the beginning of the year. Last week, the construction power box was set up and connected today.

Our site manager informed us in advance that we will definitely have to get the street temporarily closed, which is not a big deal since it can be easily bypassed.

The street was already closed here for a few days recently, but no one was informed about it. Also, the construction site a little further diagonally opposite our property (the city is building) did not give any information in advance but directly put up no parking signs.

Should we inform the neighbors about possible inconveniences or about which measures (scope) should we inform them? If yes, is a polite letter enough or how would you do it?

We are building in a building gap, all neighbors are practically long-established...

We ourselves recently received a nice letter from the neighbor across the street, whose construction will start soon.

In short: Their construction would start soon, they are really looking forward to it. It is clear that this will occasionally mean noise and disturbances for the neighbors, and they will try to keep it to a minimum if possible. They look forward to the upcoming neighborhood. The phone number was listed under the signature.

We had also already considered how to do it without immediately asking to be contacted in case of disturbances, but still providing contact information in case something really important comes up.

I thought that was a good solution and we will do something similar. But we already know everyone personally. If I didn't know someone yet, I would rather ring the doorbell and introduce myself and handle it that way.
Most neighbors are quite eager to learn a little about the construction.

So we informed all neighbors directly with a flyer before the 2 appointment dates. Including our phone number.

Yes, that really sounds great.

I'm just unsure whether I should basically already hint that there will be blockages.

Appointment date sounds as if it were at least a foreseeable time. We are not building a prefab house, so I don't know exactly when what will happen.

If, as you said above, you can drive around it, I wouldn't say it directly. It’s then not really an impairment.

Best to invite them right away to the ‘After-Corona street festival’ (which is still pending here as well). And as a tip for the future from personal experience: if you learn about significant birthdays etc. in the neighborhood, definitely take the opportunity. Small tokens of appreciation usually promote neighborhood relations.
