Hello,

Personally, I would invest the EUR 1,600.00 and thus secure the maximum possible interior space for you.

The EUR 1,600.00 due now are not comparable to the costs if you ever need to renovate because of this at some point in the future.

Additionally, I see more room height and less space below the 2m line as a clear comfort gain.

We have also made the most of the maximum possible with a knee wall of 140 cm.

Regards,

Dirk

Hmm, from 62.5 to 75... I don’t know if it will make that much of a difference. The 2-meter line shifts by exactly those 12.5 cm with a 45-degree roof. You would have to look at it depending on the floor plan: if the rooms are large enough in area, it would also be an alternative to raise the knee wall by installing built-ins under the slope (shelves, built-in cupboards) and use the non-walkable space as storage. In the bedroom, it is suitable as a built-in cupboard under the slope, in the children's rooms as bookcases or as clothing niches. You also need storage space in the bathroom. For that, you then need fewer dressers and shelves for the furnishings. Regards Yvonne

I would do it. These 10 cm make a big difference in how it feels. We lived in a [Dachgeschoss - Wohnung] with 75 cm and once with 85 cm.... it felt like a big difference!

Honestly? I would leave it. Why? Because everything under 1m (finished floor) is, in my opinion, not worthwhile. Add 2 more bricks and make the roof flatter, then at least you can put furniture. Because it will already be difficult if you want to place a dresser. Most dressers are between 80 and 110cm high. Therefore, I would definitely not make a knee wall under 1m.

As already mentioned, the maximum eaves height is 4m, otherwise we would set the knee wall to 1m! Also, a shallower roof pitch will not help us there...

Can't you get a few more centimeters out of it? For example, the floor slab a bit deeper (usually there's a step from the street to the house), the ceiling height on the ground floor a few centimeters lower (depending on what is planned). If nothing else works, then keep the 62 cm and make a knee wall inside and use it as storage space. You can really store a lot in there. We made a built-in cupboard in our old bathroom there and in the current attic it is used for suitcases and the kids' toy boxes.

What is your roof pitch?
