Hello,

we want to start building soon and do parts of the interior work with friends. If you give them money, it is undeclared work, right? What do I have to pay them so that it is no longer that, or do I have to somehow employ them?

If they don’t want money and I offer them food, does that already count as undeclared work?

Best regards misscaro

Everything that is done without money counts as so-called neighborhood help. No one can forbid you from carrying out the interior construction with your friends and relatives and providing them with food. However, you will have to register the people with the [Berufsgenossenschaft]. It is because of the insurance. If someone gets injured on the construction site and is not registered, you will have problems with the insurance, which in the worst case can mean complete bankruptcy for you. However, they usually come later with the hours recorded, and then you can somewhat make the numbers look better.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I know about the notification to the BG, which makes sense in case something really happens. I don't want any trouble :-)

Friendship help or undeclared work also has a particular catch; if a mistake or defect occurs, it can be very, very expensive for the builder

Yes, that is correct

and therefore we will still outsource some work to companies where it is important for the warranty.

Thank you.
