Hello everyone, my name is Hendrik and I recently purchased a kitchen from Ikea and assembled it myself. Everything went great (apart from drilling through the high-voltage cable ops: ) but I am currently struggling a bit with the extractor hood. The Utdrag is not exactly a luxury model, I thought it was a good compromise between looks and price. I want to operate it as an exhaust system, so the pipe leads outside. Now to my problem: the hood makes a noise like a starting jet engine, but it doesn't suck up anything at all. If I remove the pipe at the top, it blows strongly there, of course it blows out at that spot – as it should. But at the bottom, it really doesn't suck anything in. You can observe this well when boiling water, the steam rises and then moves to the side and upwards in front of the upper cabinet. On the front right side it even blows slightly, so the steam is directed from there onto the next window pane. The upward airflow is completely dry, so it’s not coming from below. I connected it to a regular socket where other electrical devices work fine. For testing, I also connected the supplied charcoal filters for recirculation mode and led the pipe out of the cabinet. There are no changes to the problem – no suction function of the hood at all. Neither the manual nor the device itself gives any indication whether I need to switch something, open a flap, or perform any other action to achieve suction. Am I too stupid to find the hint for correct operation or is the hood simply defective? Regards Hendrik
