Hi dear fans,

I bought an Ikea SÄNDA spot for 29.00 euros today. I have had the Sända system since 2012 and it works great. There are 2 spots and 2 diffused light spots connected. The new one is somehow built differently, but has the same article number etc. as the 2 old pieces. When I turn on the light, the new one turns on first. Then a few seconds later all the others.

Does that ring a bell?

Even if I swap the new Sända spot for an old one (so not adding an extra one, but swapping), the new one turns on first, then it takes 2 seconds, then the others. That is pretty annoying.

The contacts on the new one look a bit different.
Do you know this problem? Do you have any info for me?

Best regards

The only thing I can imagine is that the old Sända spots always turn on with a short delay, which is probably due to the built-in transformer. With the new one, the switch-on behavior has apparently been improved, so the lamp lights up immediately.

Remedy:
1. Live with it.
2. Do not use the new spot.
3. Replace the old spots.

Thanks for the help. So I can live with the original delay (which I knew). But now it runs in a 2-beat rhythm.

ad 3: Does Ikea replace them under warranty? After all, Sända is designed for repurchase. But due to the product modification, this is now rather unfavorable for me.

Do you have any info on that?

One of the Ikea employees here might be able to say whether there is a special routine specifically for [Sända].

Since a product improvement does not constitute a defect, this is also not a case for warranty. You can try to negotiate a solution with customer service. In doing so, you should be friendly, firm, and persistent. If necessary, ask for the head of customer service. Ultimately, however, any concession is purely a gesture of goodwill.

Thanks for the hint. I'm hoping for goodwill. Although it concerns 9 lights...
But Sända has also been recalled in the meantime. I was affected by that too. Somehow there seems to be a flaw in this product... ^^
