Ikea Pax wardrobe - What height is recommended?

At the moment I am looking for a wardrobe for my shared apartment room (about 15 square meters). I have now chosen a Pax from Ikea, which should be 1.50m wide. However, I am undecided about the height. Should I take one with 2.01m or 2.36m? The ceiling height in my room is 2.50m, so it should fit without any problems. In the store, however, it seemed very tall and bulky to me, so I am a little afraid it might "overwhelm" me in my room, which will not only be a bedroom!?

That depends on the location and the overall design of the room. If there is a risk that something might eventually be placed on the lower cabinet because there is too little space in the room, then it's better to go for the tall cabinet right away.

We also have Pax and deliberately bought it when we moved into an old building with high ceilings (but unfortunately small rooms). We consciously chose the taller version to be able to fit more in the closet. Since then, we have moved twice, and I have to say that the wardrobe has never "overwhelmed" me. I can understand your concerns well. As my predecessor already pointed out, you should pay attention to the overall design of the room. What do your desk, bed, shelves, etc. look like, what color will the new PAX wardrobe be, are the walls painted, if so, rather light or dark, and so on... So, to summarize briefly again: if you have a lot of stuff, take the 2.36m, otherwise make it dependent on the overall furnishing of the room. P.S.: if you take the 2.01m, you can of course still put things in boxes or cartons on top of the wardrobe, but on the one hand, that is hard to reach and on the other hand, you just get dust collectors in the room. We chose the 2 m version about 2 years ago because the 2.36 would not have fit due to the sloping ceilings. At that time, we were annoyed because we would have preferred the higher one.

Now we are glad about the smaller version since the ceilings here are under 2.40 high, partly sloping, and it would have been fiddly with the sliding doors, if it would have worked at all.

We would choose 2 m again. Although you lose storage space, it is more flexible. In an emergency, you can still put things on top of the wardrobe.

I have now decided on the 2m version, as I basically don't have that many things to store and it probably fits better into the entire room.
By the way, it turned out to be a birch carcass with 2 Fardal doors and a mirrored door.

Bought yesterday, now we're starting to assemble.
