Hello,

I am getting my very first Pax next week with a height of 201cm and soft-closing hinged doors. (some 50cm carcasses, some 100cm carcasses, a corner cabinet – total length over 5 meters).
I have already searched the entire Internet including this forum. Unfortunately, I have not yet figured out the best way to drill the holes for the "Lansa" door handles (64.5cm). Should I do this before mounting the door on the carcass (i.e. lying down with a board underneath so it doesn't splinter when drilling) or should I drill only after the doors are already mounted on the carcass and the whole cabinet is aligned?
On YouTube you can find one or two videos, unfortunately only for kitchen doors and drawers (where everything was drilled in the assembled state). But I have my doubts about such a large Pax wardrobe door (model Fardal) in high gloss.

Maybe someone here has experience and can tell me what’s easier and faster. I already have the famous orange template, even though it’s way too short (but let's see...).

Also, I read today that the doors of the 100cm carcass have different heights or hinges because one door must be rotated 180 degrees to mount a door both on the left and right. There are supposedly special hinges that compensate for the height difference. Should I have ordered these separately or are they included as standard with the 100cm carcass? I spent 2 hours at Ikea planning the cabinet on the computer, but nothing was mentioned about special hinges, and the staff didn’t say a word about it.

Are there any other tips someone could give me regarding the Pax doors?

I already want to say many thanks to you all!

Best regards, Diana

Hello, no special hinges are necessary. You use the regular KOMPLEMENT hinges. Whether it is better to drill the holes on mounted or horizontal doors cannot be answered generally. The advantage of horizontal doors is that you cannot slip downwards with the drill. However, it might be easier for you to drill exactly perpendicular to the surface on upright doors. A small board can always be used on the opposite side to prevent splintering.

Hi Diana,
as the IKEA expert already wrote, a small board on the inside of the door can't hurt, I always fix it with a clamp. I always drill on the mounted doors because I've once drilled on the wrong side (where the hinges are) and it's simply more convenient that way. For the correct spacing, I always use a self-made paper template, with which I can check if the holes fit and at what height I place the handle. I then fix it with painter's tape and off we go.
Best regards, Herr Rossi
