Hello everyone,
a few weeks ago we set up our Pax at a height of 201 cm.
At that time, we had bought 2 matching Ikea Pax doors "DRAMMEN" (= 3 hinges).
We were able to install one door immediately, which went completely smoothly.
Unfortunately, we had to exchange the second door because of a defect in the glass *eye roll*.
When we finally got this replacement door, we experienced something really great during the installation yesterday.
As far as I understood, there are no right or left doors, but you simply turn the door "upside down" so that it fits the other side of the cabinet.
However: the distances between the upper/lower hinge and the middle hinge are not equal!
That means in our case that we had to set the middle hinge of the right door one hole lower than on the left door!
I already thought to myself, "Great, what a waste of space!"
After all, there are 3 holes instead of 2 spaces where you can’t install drawers, etc.!
It’s annoying if you have exactly planned the inside of the cabinet down to the hole!
But here’s the kicker:
The right door sits 5 mm higher than the left door!
And not crooked, but horizontally. So REALLY higher and not misaligned.
We tried tilting the doors towards each other to make them look closer,
but this causes a pretty ugly vertical gap between the two doors,
which gets bigger towards the bottom. So that’s not a solution either.
Are we the only ones with this problem? I somehow can’t find any matches on the internet.
I mean, you can’t do more than put the hinges in the matching holes, right?!
Who knows about this, who can solve this mess?
Ikea can’t be serious about this, can they?
After all, now the handles are also unevenly high because we drilled them evenly!
Thanks to you all!!
