Hello
we are currently planning the kitchen and for me it would be very important to place the domsjö sink in front of the window.
When we were at Ikea Mannheim this week to look at some things, an employee glanced at our kitchen planner and said that wouldn’t be possible. A kitchen planner who was also called in said it would only be possible under certain conditions that depend on the measurements.
Domsjö has to be attached to the wall and there could be problems below the window because of that.
I was devastated because I don’t want a different kitchen layout.

Now I have researched online and found no indication anywhere, not even in the online assembly instructions, that the Domsjö double sink needs to be attached to the wall (which would be odd anyway).

Who can help me??
Thanks

I think you mean the large "top-mount" sink.

If I look at the instructions, nothing is attached to the wall. Anything else would have surprised me as well.

What you need to pay attention to is that there is enough space between the top of the countertop and the bottom edge of the window, so that the sink, which has a rim higher than the countertop, still fits in between.

There are no problems with the depth. The sink does protrude slightly at the front, but at the back it aligns flush with the rear edge of the countertop.

At least, that's how it looks to me. I myself have never actually handled this sink.

(Provided, of course, that there would be base cabinets with a countertop on both the right and left sides of the sink. Or rather, you surely know that the countertop at this spot is completely replaced by the sink, so that you would have at least two countertops that need to be fastened separately and both should have sufficient support surface.)

with the sink and the window frame there is no problem. The windowsill will be removed and the countertop will be extended behind the sink up to the window, the lower part of the window is fixed, I specifically did this during the renovation so that I can have a faucet in front of it and still be able to open the window.

On the right and left there is a kitchen unit so that the sink can rest on it.

Then there should be no problems.

Only your sentence: "die Arbeitsplatte wird hinter der Spüle bis zum Fenster gezogen" is confusing, because directly behind the sink is the wall, or do you mean "next to" the sink?

What is certain, however, is that none of the three Domsjö sinks are mounted on the wall but only on the side.

Edit: Ahh, forget it. Now I understand how you plan it.

The windowsill is at the same height as the countertop and you now want to replace the windowsill with the countertop.
...or not?

I can’t think of anything that would speak against it spontaneously.
