Thank you for the explanations. If you have thought about the seat angle beforehand and consciously decided on the (almost) 90°, then that is also okay. As I said, I am also looking for the ideal inclination for me and am currently at about 100°. But that will also be a simple bench without a table, so more for cozy lounging. Whole dissertations could be filled about this topic in combination with seat depth. Since my wife and I are also very different in height, that is almost impossible. I have already been close a few times to just buying the next best one where I sit reasonably comfortably.

As I said, this should in no way diminish your work. I find the bench very well done.

My wife would also very much like a bench or even better a corner bench. Unfortunately, we cannot get those made here.

Very nicely done

We are considering a similar solution, but without a backrest, instead directly on the wall with attached cushions as a backrest

Take a look at my original plan. Actually, there were supposed to be fixed seat and back cushions. The 90° angle was not planned as a pure backrest, but the inclination was supposed to be created by foam cushions. I also measured the seat depth down to the centimeter based on other chairs and corner benches and my own feeling. Now this is fulfilled by loose cushions. The bench itself cost about €900 with material from Ikea (especially the drawers are super expensive there). The upholsterer wanted another €1100 to almost completely cover the seat and back area. Therefore, we are now sticking with loose seat cushions.
