I would also paint it white. Definitely not dark! Otherwise, you’ll have a shapeless block attached to an already not particularly friendly old building. And a real improvement, even if probably not intentional, would be the removal of the huge chimney pipe..

I don't perceive the extension as the problem at all, the problem is much more the not so nice clinker brick, which looks very old-fashioned... But there is probably little that can be done about it.

I think it is good that the house deals honestly with its extension, i.e. it only adds the extension harmoniously but does not assimilate it.

This was just one of the details that seemed familiar to me - however, I would find it nicer to give it a blind extension down to the ground.

I just see the covered porch/winter garden. I would paint that white... or light gray.

But maybe you can also create a connection between old and new with it. For example, paint the facade on this side also with wood and in the same color as the porch. If you have a fondness for Swedish red or Greek blue...!

So I would also tend to go more towards white or something in the lighter gray range color-wise and maybe apply that somewhat to the existing building. Right now, the colors only match to a limited extent! Sure, a wooden cladding or other cladding could also work well, but then you would definitely have problems with the window.

A connecting element could theoretically be the brown of the windows, but painting the annex brown? I don't think that's perfect either.
