Idea generation - where to put the stairs for the attic conversion?

I would have split it lengthwise and installed an external staircase on the free gable side.

Both chimneys are to be used in the two apartments.

Who are you anyway in the whole story?
I am an employee on the farm and would like to move into one of the two new employee apartments.

Thank you very much for the reminder - I had not checked this aspect beforehand - according to classification, the building complex is "of architectural and economic-historical significance" - some changes have already been made in advance - among other things, also access or escape stairs for the attic conversion in the former barn, which, however, is only one-story.

Just casually connecting further heating systems is also not a matter of course.
I am aware of that - in my opinion, during the roof renovation, a later use of the attic as accommodation was considered - one of the chimneys has been renewed - only the access to the roof was not considered - the 0.5*0.75m hatch would certainly not be a really practical option even for temporary accommodations, especially since this staircase ends at the floor height and the 50 cm ceiling height must be "somehow" overcome - I regularly get a fit of rage when going down.
