How to connect an outdoor camera? LAN, power or battery

I still have a question...

I have planned to install two LAN connections on the exterior wall of the new building to connect one camera each. However, the electrician charges a whopping 500 euros net for this. Which again raises the following question: pay and be happy, or look for an alternative.

With LAN and PoE, it is of course the most comfortable.
With WLAN, power is often needed as well, which would also have to be laid there. (Is a switch then also required? Because power in the outdoor area must be equipped with a switch? The camera would be in operation 24/7 and the switch would therefore be completely unnecessary.)
Only with battery (+solar) everything seems a bit shaky to me in terms of stability etc.
Especially since I want to save my recordings on my own NAS and not in any cloud. This of course significantly limits the cameras again.

What would you recommend also in terms of costs? Can you also recommend a specific camera? It should be compatible with Synology if possible.

Thanks to you.

Be sure to choose LAN and PoE. Everything else is a makeshift solution and more in the category of "toys." If you really want to operate the cameras stably, in decent resolution, and without cloud, you have no other choice. In my opinion, your electrician is out of his mind anyway.

I prefer to install Axis, and if budget is a concern, Hikvision. There will certainly be some who come around with Mobotix because electricians like to recoup their training costs that way, but those things are unnecessarily complicated for private houses with corresponding requirements. Everything that supports ONVIF is compatible with the NAS or the Surveillance Station.

That already helps me. Do you also have a tip on where I should best have the LAN cables laid? I am currently planning on the garden side above the terrace at Child 2 and on the building side at Child 1. I have attached the floor plan. I am just wondering whether the angle is optimal or perhaps even mounted too high. Alternatively, I could relatively inexpensively retrofit something from the garage. However, then only power and not LAN. Thanks in advance

Since you don't really know what kind of camera it will be, it's also quite pointless to speculate about angles, etc. Different lenses on the same camera alone can result in completely different outcomes.

I am currently looking at one from reo link. However, horizontally only 80 degrees. Basically, I am wondering whether the positioning itself makes sense...

But it can't hurt to think about a future, sensible configuration. After all, you can also choose a camera based on the existing location. How else should cameras be prepared but maybe replaced later or even replace old ones in stock with new ones? As you describe it, it sounds like it wouldn't be possible to lay a connection after the camera. That would mean, if our camera at work breaks down, we could only buy the same one, and if that no longer exists, simply none at all.
