That's exactly what I mean. First be clear about what you want, then sort out positions, angles, and focal lengths. No, with that you can look at any random floor plan/property to see which cameras would see/show what.

Maybe you should include the following in your considerations.

Burglars are not really deterred by cameras.

If you want good images for the police, it costs a lot.

If you store locally, it could happen that your recordings get stolen as well.

Hey,

I am also looking for the right cameras and wanted to try the tool from Dlink. Unfortunately, I could not find a link where the tool can be used. Is there something else available by now? I think it is quite useful to know which area the cameras actually cover. So far, I had thought about Ubiquiti or AXIS.
Thank you very much!

Ubiquiti only work within their own system. Therefore, use Axis, Hikvision, etc. I personally only use Axis. What are your requirements? Just to watch around the house a bit or continuous surveillance? Cameras are always only part of a security/-surveillance system. Good cameras are not cheap either. Quickly four-digit. Sometimes five-digit.

Basically, I would say "keeping an eye around the house." Ideally, it should be compatible to integrate the cameras into certain actions. If someone is outside the house at night, then the outside light goes to 100% or something like that. How about [Reolink]? My budget for 3-4 cameras is between 1500-2000.

Reolink would not be in my top selection. POE cameras from AXIS, Hilvision, dahuha... You should control lighting via motion detectors or presence detectors, light barriers, etc. Your budget is good for cameras. Where do you want to record?
