How should I properly build the ceiling? Which materials? Maybe drywall panels?

I tore down the wooden ceiling in the living room. Underneath are now the slats on the bare hollow concrete blocks. The ceiling is to be wallpapered afterwards and a light box will be installed all around. How should the ceiling be constructed now? Vapor barrier, then slats and maybe drywall sheets???? Cracks should of course not occur... Thanks

The vapor barrier is important. But only if there is no heated room above the room.

Then attach a batten framework and then the gypsum board panels on it. But I did it differently and I installed wooden panels. It looks really great, no joints or anything.

Such a wooden panel looks really good, but it is also a matter of price. Years ago, I also once installed a suspended ceiling. At that time, I used gypsum plasterboard. Our goal was to reduce sound insulation, which we also succeeded in well.

Right, that is a question of money. But [Rigipsplatten] also do it. They are then covered with wallpaper. That is relatively quick and also inexpensive. The lamps can also be well attached here.

The question always arises, which money do I want to spend? Then follows the second question, can I do this work myself or do I need a professional company?

I also hung our ceiling myself and I used wooden panels for it. Here I was also able to easily install the ceiling lighting.

I also like wood on the ceiling and it looks good. I am of the opinion that it is better to spend a bit more money but to have something decent in return.
