Everyone is "complaining" about TuC, TM, etc.
No one is really complaining. It's just being pointed out that additional optional features are being added. For most people nowadays, it has to be the double garage, the walk-in shower, the 80 x 80 tiles. Upgrading to a 300-liter tank for 5 people makes sense. But it seems like "everyone" has to have what looks amazing on Pinterest. There is definitely a difference between installing a small emergency shower in the corner of a 3 sqm guest bathroom or a wall that requires a walk-in shower. Whether you still have freedom of movement then, I doubt. I refer to the current floor plan discussions where many rooms are desired. I don't understand what results when you skip a cloakroom or sufficient storage space because it absolutely has to be the flat hipped roof on a city villa. Nor do I understand why a surplus of square meters is automatically accepted. This results in two large children's rooms while downstairs everything is bursting at the seams. You can live very well with 5 people on 150 sqm if you plan the house accordingly. But apparently, planning is now only done based on what others have and what you can show off on Insta. The attic conversion, which was normal 40/50 years ago, is nowadays considered old-fashioned. For me, as long as the plot allows it (and it does in the mentioned threads), it is, in my opinion, always the better choice for just two people or 5 to not build a city villa, but to plan only 2/3 of the ground floor's area upstairs.
