This is how I determined the right height for me. Although I am _only_ 161 cm tall, a working height of 89 cm is the best measurement for me.
Important for girls - if they cook mostly and of course from my point of view: measure with heel heights/sole heights, which are usually worn in the house

One more tip for the perfect working height (to minimize the mistake of too high a work surface) Shoulders should not be raised when chopping, as that causes tension. However, a work height that is too high causes exactly that. Many go for height+, although for smaller people this is exactly counterproductive: the right height should keep the body healthy. In the old house I had about 90 cm and always had tension. In my mother's old low kitchen I was completely relaxed - so our island now has 5 cm less height than the row with the sink.
