How can one distinguish between thermal insulation glazing and insulated windows?

The windows we have are from 1996. Are these "simple" conventional double-glazed windows or do they already have thermal insulation glazing? How can I distinguish this as a layperson? Or is the year of manufacture already indicative? Unfortunately, I don’t know since when thermal insulation glazing was required in new buildings. Thanks Jonas

1. Thanks to the Thermal Insulation Ordinance of 1995, thermal insulation glazing has become standard - at 99.5% also for buildings from 1996. 2. As a layperson, you can perform the lighter test. Since links here may lead to account suspension, try searching the web for lighter test thermal insulation glazing. This way you can identify what has been installed. Otherwise, there is often a marking on the spacers of the windows where you can read the glazing information.

The lighter test is (still) quite reliable for the year of manufacture... My crystal ball says that in 1996 probably still 50% of the windows were installed without thermal insulation glazing. It took a few more years and court rulings before thermal insulation glazing prevailed.
