We have found a plot of land with a 13% slope, the lower end at the street side. We are considering building a house on it without a basement (for cost reasons). The house would have a ground area of 10m*10m and behind the house there is supposed to be a terrace 3.50m wide. So overall, the house has a depth of 10m+3.50. With the slope, the front edge of the house would have to be 13.5m*0.13=1.76m above ground. Since the terrace at the back must end slightly above ground, at least 30cm are added, so it will be about 2m at the front. So a lot of filling would be needed in front. Does anyone have experience with this, whether this is reasonable and doable with manageable costs? The alternative would be to build with a basement. But the building ground is more difficult and it must be constructed to be waterproof against pressurized water.
