Oh yes, grandma paid for the stroller, the rest of the furniture was in the low three-digit range. The first baby is like everything around the topic of weddings and similar... you get emotionally exploited, because only the most expensive is good enough. After all, it's for the baby.

Everyone has their own standards. I don't think that fits together: building an expensive single-family house and pushing your kids around in a 5€ buggy from the flea market... well, great!

Sorry, but I’ve rarely read such nonsense! Why shouldn’t those things go together?

The child doesn’t care at all whether the stroller cost 1000€ or was bought for 5€ at the flea market. That’s just the stupid thinking of the parents!

We have bought almost everything second-hand. We probably spend far below average on any gimmicks for our children. Nevertheless, they probably have a very fulfilling life in a huge garden to romp around in, with many barbecue parties, campfires, camping, planting and harvesting vegetables, etc. You can buy almost everything for children second-hand! We bought the entire nursery furniture, almost all the clothes, and most of the toys second-hand. Especially in the first years, these things are sold again after a few months to years anyway because they are no longer needed. E-bay Classifieds is simply great! We even bought the cloth diapers second-hand!

Because of that, I now only work 30 hours and can spend one more day a week with my kids. THAT I truly find priceless! Everyone sets their priorities differently. But all the expensive gimmicks are usually totally unnecessary. Anyone can buy them if they want. But whether that really benefits the child, I seriously doubt. Often it’s just showing off the parents....

I often find baby stores psychologically cleverly designed. The stroller section is made for the fathers. There, chrome frames with chassis and wide tires are displayed like in a car dealership and labeled with car-like attributes such as "sporty" or "luxurious." The decorations are placed slightly to the side for the mothers. So: special car repayments and strollers on installment purchase. The baby won't care; it’s to please the proudly strutting parents. It’s great, the money keeps circulating with first, second, and third buyers.

I also don’t understand things like that, that one has nothing to do with the other.

But things like that have to exist too.
- All vehicles (of course all SUVs) leased.
- New brand clothes.
- Wife goes to the hairdresser, manicure, pedicure every week.
- Kids have the x-th new mountain bike, stunt scooter, because you can use everything at the same time

...and all just to maintain the appearance of a wealthy household.

What a stress. But it would be boring if everyone were the same, so,

I’m glad I don’t care about all that and I don’t care about appearances!

We’ve already had this discussion here more than enough!

Children cost money, how much depends individually

And yes, there are expectant parents going crazy. Hormones, after all
Nursery with Paidi furniture and Instagram look
Stroller like Kate and William
Clothes only by brand and all in pink and blue, just not neutral so the next child can still wear them. If they are like me, they have to go shopping again.

Baby stores and baby bazaars trigger a flight reflex in me
