I’m afraid the OP can’t afford it either. Why else would he be looking for stock beyond civilization?
The main obstacle is usually that the land doesn’t even belong to the municipality.

Or simply live without a sidewalk.

The municipality will not build a sidewalk that is only useful for you, and if so, you would have to pay for it, the rest of the municipality has no benefit from it.

Keep searching. Without a sidewalk, there is trash and I also don't see anything coming there.

I want to talk to the municipality because my children need to be able to reach the bus stop safely. What options are there? If a sidewalk is to be built, will we be charged? What can we expect?

Step 1: talk to the responsible state road authority; Step 2: forget it. Just for the sake of completeness, here are the answers to your other two questions: yes, the costs are 100% allocated to the sole beneficiary (i.e., you); you can count on four parliamentary terms. That means many summer festivals until then, hopefully you have a good tolerance for drinking. Political donations don’t hurt, but they are no guarantee.

How about buying the piece of land as well and building a (private) path yourself?
