Heating engineer?

Please remember that you obviously have no clue and should hire someone who knows what they're doing. And this not only applies to the heating question.

I agree with that.

As a former owner of a property from 1964, I strongly recommend a specialist.

The heating system is just one of many possible problem areas. How old are the windows? Was the roof insulation done properly or possibly as a DIY project without professional expertise?
How old is the electrical system?
Is there moisture in the house?.....

Whether a buddy or not, it involves a lot of money!

And if he really is a good buddy, he will understand that you can’t buy a pig in a poke.

And if, after the expert’s report, you come to the conclusion that you don’t want the house, then think about the following: Better to have spent 1,000 euros on an expert and not bought it than to have thrown away 245,000 euros.

We also bought a semi-detached house.
It is also located in a sought-after place, has roughly the same living space, a bit more land, and was built in 2007. We don’t have to invest anything and paid less.

The price is always a play of supply and demand.
Have a look around to see what similar houses in the area are asking for.

We asked our bank advisor whether the price was more or less accurate. According to our bank, we even got a very good offer. The purchase price and the bank’s assessment were quite close to each other.
