: well, that's nice for you at first. But as book value, it actually doesn't matter. But if you had to / wanted to sell, not so much...

: I don't think it's wrong to consider an economic aspect alongside emotional ones ("infrared cabin" or not...). If this is the exception here, that's okay. It probably doesn't matter at all in the big city with a building boom and bubble. Here in the provinces, it's different.

From an ecological point of view, you shouldn't build new now at all and certainly not deviate from a general contractor standard that is closest to your economic thinking! But who wants to spend €400k and more and build cheaply so that it's economical. I definitely don't. My goal is to build in such a way that when I come home from work in the evening and get up in the morning, I enjoy having built something beautiful every time. Or, put differently, if having a roof over my head would be enough, I would buy a barn.
