Hello dear ones,
can you help us? About six weeks ago we had the flow screed installed in the house. We have been ventilating as often as possible since day one and about two weeks ago we also started running the underfloor heating in this drying program. Now my husband discovered slight mold spots today in the attic above the windows.
The architect is downplaying it and says it is only superficial. We should not worry. Meanwhile it is visibly dry there as well. We are supposed to remove the mold from the surface and that’s it. We are a bit skeptical about mold in the house. What do you say? Where does the mold come from? What is the best way to remove it? Do we have to worry? Should we maybe completely knock out the plaster in those spots and replaster? Is that effective? So many questions… We would be very happy about a few opinions and experiences.

Greetings from PB

So newly filling would not bring anything because filling again introduces new moisture to the spot. The filled spot then contains moisture again. Where did you get this screed from? In the whole house?

Hello,

And are you still ventilating?

Sorry, but no one can possibly judge that from a distance?!

You have a faced shell construction according to your avatar. The first question for me would be about the build-up. Was the inner layer completely constructed first and then the facing was done, or both in parallel? And if parallel – did rain get into the insulation?

2. What were/are the ventilation intervals ... also and especially since the drying program has been running?

If I were you – also because you are complete laymen – I would not rely solely on my architect’s statements; mold is never good, except in cheese. If he is serious, he will understand that you are looking for external responses. Because only by inspecting the shell construction on site can your questions asked here be reliably answered.

Rhenish regards

Yes. Of course, we continue to ventilate at least twice a day. We have done that from the very beginning. But apparently, that was not sufficient.
It quickly became clear to us that no one can really say where the mold comes from. A specialist has already been there. There is apparently no mold in the attic, everything is fine. But in the basement, in our unpopular bicycle room, there is indeed mold. At one spot, the floor slab had become extremely wet and apparently was not dry enough towards the screed. Anyway, it is now being dried there with devices and monitored, and if necessary, drying under the screed will have to be done later. Well, there is always something with a house build.

Hi

yes that is normal the most important thing at the beginning is that you set up [Hygrometer].

We in our rental apartment have that every winter as soon as it gets damp and wet outside despite heating and ventilating.

Where the mold settles for you there are cold bridges so you have the mold on the surface. In the meantime I have painted the spots with Baufix anti mold paint and no new mold has appeared.

You should also consider getting a [Bautrocjner] I also bought one back then for about 150 euros great thing

For an effective and lasting renovation of moisture damage, an exact preliminary investigation is necessary, which clarifies the causes of moisture exposure and records the condition of the component. [Fachmann vor Ort holen] everything else is rather counterproductive
